Often when I ponder about bigger questions in life, I tend to seek out mental occupation from TV shows, Movies or books. Lately I have been struggling with my personal approach to social media, trying to figure out if I should do something about it or distance myself from it. It has always been my philosophy to either disagree in silence or act, and by acting I mean diversify and cultivate circumstance; there is, to me, no excluded middle ground.

It was in my latest quest for entertainment to help me occupy time, that I three days ago once again stumbled across Aaron Sorkin’s “The Newsroom”, which itself – in my opinion – is an entire chapter on inspiration. I have found no clearer definition of relevance, than what Mr. Sorkin is trying to tell the audience through that show.

This time around it was especially a reference to a passed colleague in the show, whom other characters saw as a man inspired by Don Quixote, that stood out and gave me new perspective. The reference was: “An old man with dementia who thought he could save the world from an epidemic of incivility simply by acting like a knight”. To me it seems that traditional and pure-hearted values continue to make the largest impacts on the world, and it translates perfectly to my view on social media. And I find it hard to disagree in silence.
